After this week's storm, the City of Grand Rapids is asking for residents' help getting snow off the streets.

According to a release, aside from just moving the snow to make travel easier and safer, the City is concerned about rain and warmer temperatures headed our way and the possibility of flooding.

Fire Chief John Lehman said,

“Some of our streets are difficult to travel, and this is a problem for not only residents but also emergency vehicles. This is a public safety issue. If we don’t get these vehicles moved and neighborhood streets cleared of snow, we will have even more dangerous conditions when the snow melts. We could see flooding on our neighborhood streets.”

Vehicles buried in snow and parked on the wrong side of the street, according to odd-even parking rules, will be towed.

According to a release from GRPS, residents may park their cars at any Grand Rapids Public School parking lot or any neighborhood city lot on Saturday.

Those who do not have alternate parking should abide by odd-even parking rules or risk getting a ticket or towed.
