The spectacle includes a wild light show, bubbles, balloons, buckets of confetti and singer Wayne Coyne's giant laser-shooting hands. Unfortunately, the Lips report that those specialized hands went missing after the band's appearance at the Southbound Festival in Busselton, Western Australia, last weekend.
Vampire Weekend have emerged from their cave and announced plans to release a follow-up to their 2010 album 'Contra' sometime soon -- possibly as early as this spring, Consequence of Sound reports. The band recorded the as-yet-untitled disc in New York City and Los Angeles with producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Murs, We Are Scientists, Usher) and assistance from the group's own Rostam Batmanglij.
Scottish indie-pop greats the Pastels are releasing their first new album in 16 years, Consequences of Sound reports. 'Slow Summits,' the group's fifth full-length, is due out sometime in 2013, and while there's no official release date, we know the label -- Domino -- and have a teaser video (below) to tide us over.

Foster the People's breakthrough smash 'Pumped Up Kicks' was pulled from many radio stations in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Conn., which left 26 people dead, most of them young children. The song was a point of contention, due to the lyrics "You better run, better run / Outrun my gun / You better run, better run / Faster than my bullet." The band has responded to the song being temporarily removed from the airwaves.
