For those of you who were excited to see a double feature of "Hocus Pocus" and "Rocky Horror Picture Show" this Friday at Ah Nab Awen Park, I have some bad news. Neither movie will be playing this week.
The boys from the St. John Vianney Catholic School 5/6th Grand Boys' Soccer team received a some heartwarming accolades from the mother of one of the boys on their competitions' team after showing an great act of sportsmanship at a game recently. The woman who wrote the letter, Karen DeVries, is the mother of a young boy named Charlie who attends Grand Rapids Christian Middle School and has Down Syndrome. Her son took part in a game against St. John Vianney, and the outpouring of support from the St. John Vianney team for her son prompted DeVries to write the letter. See what she had to say after the jump!
Two-and-a-half year old Amber Rose Smith had all of West Michigan (I would wager to say the whole lower peninsula of Michigan) praying for her safe return earlier this week. Amber Rose went missing from her home near the Manistee State Forest on Tuesday afternoon, and both her parents and rescue workers feared that the toddler had wandered into the forest. But, almost twenty-four hours later, Amber Rose was found alive and well by DNR officer Jeff Ginn. And now we have a picture of what that first moment of her rescue looked like.
