Josh Todd from Buckcherry called GRD today to talk about the new album, and the state of rock music. He gets why people say 'rock is dead', but still believes in rock music.

"I understand, you know, what they mean by it. I think they mean, like, the glory days and all that kind of stuff, you know. And that's the truth, it's never going to be the same. It's just a different way of, you know, playing rock music, but it's been alive and kicking for all these years. And we've had a really great career, and we've had a lot of longevity in this business, so that was kind of the reason we wanted to do it.

And you know, there's not a lot of bands that are making traditional rock n roll records like we're making, so it just seemed the right time to call it what it is."

On the new single, 'Bring it on Back', Josh loves Kurt and Kyle Busch because they're a bit more rough around the edges than a lot of the newer racers out on the track now. Josh is a huge fan of racing, and wanted to put himself in their seat.

"I wanted to put myself in the third person, and try to write it from the racer's perspective, the driver's perspective. And that's how 'Bring it on Back' came about. It's one of the first songs we'd written and it just came out great."

There's also a new song on the Rock N Roll album, called 'The Feeling Never Dies', and Josh began writing it with his 9-year-old daughter.

"It's one of the ballads on the record. Yeah, I just wanted to create a chorus that I could sing around the house with my daughter, because I wanted to teach her how to learn other people's lyrics, and sing harmonies. And so we started singing it, I wrote the chorus, and a few chords on the guitar, and we just wing this chorus over and over again together.

And then she started singing by herself around the house, and I was listening to her and I was like, this is a pretty good chorus, I should play this for Keith. So, I played it for Keith, and he added some really great verse and bridge music, and then I finished the lyrics and melodies, and it just came out really good."

They're playing 'The Feeling Never Dies' during their show, so check out the song and get ready to sing along!
