Rocker Jon Bon Jovi is publicly endorsing Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o in his quest for the coveted Heisman Trophy, which is given annually to the nation's best college football player. Bon Jovi joins former Irish greats Raghib "Rocket" Ismail, Brady Quinn and 1987 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown in a new video that hypes Te'o for college football's top individual prize. Brown was Notre Dame's last Heisman winner. Ismail finished second to Brigham Young's Ty Detmer in 1990 and Quinn finished third behind Troy Smith and Darren McFadden in 2006.

Manti Te'o is having a magical season. The Irish co-captain's team is undefeated at 12-0 and is awaiting the winner of the SEC in the BCS National Championship Game, which will be played in Miami on January, 7th. Te'o leads an Irish defense that has allowed only 9 touchdowns all season and unbelievably just 1 rushing TD.

This season, Te'o has 101 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and an amazing 7 interceptions but offensive players have traditionally won the award. Michigan's Charles Woodson is the only primarily defensive player to win the Heisman since its inception in 1935. Woodson won the award in 1997 while leading the Wolverines to an undefeated season and share of the National Championship with Nebraska. That season, Woodson had 44 tackles, 1 sack and 7 interceptions (Woodson recorded his 8th interception in the Rose Bowl against Washington State.)
