Billy Idol Reveals New Album and Memoir Release Plans
We’re about to get a lot more of Billy Idol on the horizon. The veteran rocker has been busy putting pen to paper, not only to write material for his next album, but also to finish off his upcoming autobiography.
Idol has revealed that he will release his first new album in almost a decade this October. The as-yet-untitled effort will be released via Idol’s own BFI Records, via Kobalt Label Services, and finds the rocker with the whiplash smile working with legendary producer/musician Trevor Horn. An official street date has not been revealed, but the October release coincides perfectly with Idol’s new memoir.
The book ‘Dancing With Myself’ is set to arrive Oct. 7 via Touchtone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The candid page-turner follows the story of Idol from his transient childhood through his role in U.K.’s punk movement to his time as one of MTV’s first stars and the tales of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll that colored his world.
As the description reads, “['Dancing With Myself' is] a survivor’s story at its heart, but also an enchanting, sometimes chilling, and always riveting account of one man’s creative drive joining forces with unbridled human desire. This startling memoir is unmistakably literary in its character and brave in its sheer willingness to tell.” To pre-order the book, visit Simon & Schuster’s site here.
And keep an eye out for Idol, who has dates booked in Europe, with more shows expected to be added, keeping him on the road into 2015.
