Battle Creek Police have now released details about the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl on a trail in Calhoun County Monday. They have also released the name and photo of the suspect.

The teen told police that she was walking home from her bus stop on a trail she takes every day when she heard noises behind her and turned around and saw a man. She says that he walked up to her with a gun in his hand, pointed it at her, and told her to do what he said. He then allegedly dragged her into the woods and forced her to have sex with him.

The victim ran home and called the police following the assault.

The suspect, Allen French, 31, left the scene on a bike, which police later found at his home. Police say that the victim and French were familiar with each other.

French was arraigned on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1st degree, kidnapping and abduction.  The judge denied bond for French.  At the arraignment French said that he doesn’t own a gun.
