A bald Eagle who was hit by a car in the UP last summer is getting a new home at John Ball Zoo, MLive reports. The zoo's male bald eagle had recently died, and they were looking to bring in another eagle to their exhibit.

After the new eagle was hit by a car in August 2016, he was taken to Wings of Wonder, a bird rehabilitation center in Empire, Michigan.

The bird had suffered severe spinal trauma. After four months of rehabilitation, he had nearly fully recovered, but maintained weakness in his right leg and foot, which would make it difficult for the bird to survive in the wild.

Wings of Wonder began to look for a home for the bird and was able to connect with John Ball Zoo.

The eagle is undergoing tests to make sure he's healthy and ready to be around other birds. If all goes well, he'll be in John Ball Zoo's eagle exhibit in less than a month.
