On Monday, Avenged Sevenfold announced that their new drummer would be named on Wednesday. They've been working with the new skinsman for over a year, since letting Arin Ilejay go. They held off announcing Arin's departure until July, but they've had Brooks Wackerman in the band well before that.

Who's Brooks Wackerman, you ask?

He's a great drummer who's been playing in Bad Religion since about 2001, but he got his start a long time ago, in 1992, with a band Steve Vai put together, called Bad4Good.

This was a "kid prodigy" band, which was fashionable at the time, and featured the kid from the Vai video "The Audience is Listening", named Thomas McRocklin. It also had Danny Cooksey, who played the friend to young John Connor in Terminator 2, and a young Brooks Wackerman.

Wackerman has played with Korn (recording drums on their untitled album), has a thrash band called The Innocent, and toured with Tenacious D several times, recorded with Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest, Infectious Grooves, filled in for Travis Barker in Blink 182, and even slummed it with Avril Lavigne, haha.

Brooks joined Bad Religion in 2001, and played a lot of shows and recordings with the band, until October, when he announced he was leaving the band to "pursue another path".

In case you're worried, the guy can really play:

I'm really looking forward to hearing the new A7X stuff! How about you?
