Avatar are back on the scene and they've just dropped a new single. "The Eagle Has Landed" is the first official radio single from the band's Feathers & Flesh album, due May 13 via eOne in North America and Canada and Another Century overseas.

The song starts off innocent enough with some twangy picking before a wall of guitar blasts you. Once the lyrical content starts, you'll be hard pressed to keep your head from nodding or your foot from tapping with the catchy beat provided by the band.

Frontman Johannes Eckerstrom told Revolver, who premiered the song, "You've heard Owl's hunting hymn. Now it's time for Eagle's mission statement. Just as he crashes into the world of his adversary, we will come crashing into your lives, screaming at the top of our lungs. We're still very early in the story and without giving away too much, I can say that things are about to change rapidly. The riff is a towel, the melody is water and y'all are about to get boarded. Have fun!" Check out the song in full above.

Feathers & Flesh was recorded in Germany, Finland and Sweden in December of 2015 with Sylvia Massy producing. The disc is a concept album and the band has sought out intriguing artwork for each track and delivered interesting visuals for each song released so far. The clip above, shot by Johan Carlen, features some of the artistic pieces designed for the singles.

Once the album arrives, the band will also deliver a fully illustrated 60-page, 1090 verse poem hardcover book for those who want to dig a little deeper into the story.

The album is already available for pre-order via iTunes or in bundle packages at the band's website. Those who pre-order the album via iTunes will receive "The Eagle Has Landed," "Regret" and "House of Eternal Hunt" as instant gratification tracks.
