What were the most popular baby names in West Michigan in 2014? Well, according to the birth records at Spectrum Health, Olivia and Noah were the most popular for boys and girls respectively.

This year, there are several newcomers to the girl’s list, including Avery, Ella and Nora. Some new boy names also took over the list in 2014 – William, Caleb, Carter, Henry, Benjamin and Jackson were all added this year.

Dustin Diamond — ‘Screech’ From ‘Saved By The Bell’ — Arrested in Wisconsin

Dustin Diamond, the actor best known for playing Screech on the '90s hit TV show “Saved by the Bell," was arrested early Friday morning in Wisconsin.

Michigan Senate OKs Setting Drunk Boating, Snowmobiling Limits at 0.08 Percent BAC

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is expected to sign bills soon that will subject boaters and snowmobilers to the same blood-alcohol limits as motor vehicle drivers.

The bills approved unanimously Tuesday by the state Senate would set the legal alcohol limit at 0.08 percent blood-alcohol content (BAC) instead of 0.10 percent BAC.

Michigan Senate Approves 4 A.M. Closing Time for Downtown Bars

Michigan cities may have the option of allowing downtown bars to stay open until 4 a.m. on weekend nights under a new bill that passed the Michigan Senate on Thursday.

Senate Bill 247 passed by a 22-14 vote, after an earlier vote failed.

Three Injured, Gunman Killed At Florida State University

UPDATE (12:00 p.m.): The Associated Press is reporting that the shooter was Myron May, a lawyer who graduated from Florida State before attending Texas Tech University's law school. The AP cited a law enforcement official who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to release the name.

Three people have been transported to the hospital following a shooting incident at Strozier Library on Florida State University's campus in Tallahassee.

Police responded to a call at 12:30 a.m. about an active shooter on campus. FSU officers confronted the shooter on the steps of the library and told him to drop his weapon.

Instead, the shooter fired a round at campus police, who then shot back, killing him.

Grand Rapids Refuse & Recycling Pickup Cancelled Tuesday Due To Snow

Pickup of refuse (trash), recycling, and lawn waste has been cancelled within the city of Grand Rapids for Tuesday. The City of Grand Rapids released a statement late Tuesday morning informing residents.

The city says that because of the heavy snowfall we've received, public service staff have all been diverted to plowing the streets.

NFL Suspends Adrian Peterson For The Rest Of The Season Without Pay

The NFL announced Tuesday morning that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will be suspended for at least the rest of the year, without pay, for violations of the league’s personal conduct policy.

Peterson will not be considered for reinstatement before April 15, 2015.
