Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe became a huge success, there were immediate imitators trying to follow that same model. From the 'Justice League' films to 'Amazing Spider-Man' and, heck, even the upcoming 'Star Wars' movies. It all seemed a bit much, to be honest. But, this latest news might take the cake (or donut?) when it comes to biting style. Dan Aykroyd, the only one involved with the original 'Ghostbusters' who seems to want to have anything to do with the new 'Ghostbusters' says he wants to relaunch the franchise following the Marvel "shared universe" strategy.
So far, we have heard rumors that two of the three planned 'Star Wars' spinoffs were to follow Boba Fett and Han Solo. Then there was the mysterious third spinoff, which we haven't much concrete information on. Until now. A recent report suggests that despite earlier reports that the spinoffs wouldn't follow any Jedi or Sith characters, Lucasfilm is currently working with artists and a writer to develop an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.
Let's be honest: if you're here, you probably know a lot about the 'Star Wars' movies. But, how much do you really know? Did you know that they're making a new one? You did? Boy, you are good. Well, now you can test your 'Star Wars' knowledge with the first entry in our new video series "You Think You Know Movies?"
The internet has not been kind to the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' reboot. This shouldn't be surprising to you, because a) you are on the internet, and b) you have seen the footage from the 'Ninja Turtles' reboot. (True story: during a recent 'Guardians of the Galaxy' screening in New York City, the crowd loudly booed the 'Ninja Turtles' trailer.) But, star Megan Fox has a word for all of those haters. Two words, actually.
Earlier this week, Marvel announced their schedule through 2019 and it included...well, a lot of dates. So far, there are few titles actually announced, but Marvel president Kevin Feige at least has hinted at what we can expect by revealing that each year, for the next five years, will have one sequel and one original film
We've speculated for months on who would be playing Thanos, the overarching villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Would it be Vin Diesel? Benicio Del Toro? Kevin Feige said they had the actor cast, but that they weren't ready to reveal who it was just yet. Well, they might not be ready, but that doesn't matter because the word is out.
We theorized that Vin Diesel was secretly cast as Thanos under the guise of Groot, but, now 'Guardians' director James Gunn says that's not true and we're right back to square one. During the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' fan Q&A on Facebook yesterday, one fan did God's work and asked Gunn straight up who would be playing Thanos.
Let's be honest: the last two 'Die Hard' movies were almost unwatchable. There's little Fox could do to get us excited for a 'Die Hard 6' at this point, but what little there is to do, they're at least trying to do. Early reports suggest that Fox is working on a 'Die Hard 6' story that would reunite John McClane (Bruce Willis) and Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), the co-stars of the last good 'Die Hard' movie.
'Star Wars: Episode 7' hasn't been very forthcoming when it comes to details. We sorta knew what was happening, but then J.J. Abrams completely scrapped the existing script by Michael Arndt to start fresh with Lawrence Kasdan ('The Empire Strikes Back'), calling into question everything we thought we knew. But, now we actually have some confirmed story facts for the upcoming sequel. 'Star Wars: Episode 7' will take place 30 years after the events of 'Return of the Jedi' and will follow a trio of young characters.
Hal Douglas, the voice-over artist who popularized the "In a world..." line and whose voice could be heard in movie trailers for 'Forrest Gump,' 'Meet the Parents' and 'Lethal Weapon' has died at the age of 89 from complications of pancreatic cancer.
