Johnnie Walker

I've never been good at filling these things out, but here it goes. I like long walks in cold mountain air, preferably with snow on the ground. I enjoy drinking fine soda by the crackling fire, and deep tissue massage. I hope to one day grow up an become and astronaut, so I can fly to Venus to see if that's really where women come from. If it's true, I'll bring one back for you, too. Unless it's a dude you want, and then you're out of luck...sorry. My favorite month is October, because Halloween is the best holiday ever! It allows me to openly proclaim my love and obsession with scary movies without being seen as some sort of lunatic. Okay, not too much of a lunatic. I'm a huge fan of rock and metal music, and you'll often hear me blasting the control room speakers into oblivion every night during my show. My engineer doesn't like me very much, since he has to fix them. Sorry, Mike.

Gilda’s Laughfest Amateur Showcase Gives Great Exposure to Up and Coming Comics

On Sunday at The B.O.B., I got to help introduce the Amateur Stand-up Showcase with a bunch of great local and not-so-local comics hitting the stage for laughs.

Fourteen up and coming comics each had five minutes to make people laugh, and that takes a lot of guts!

It's a really cool thing for Gilda's LaughFest to have these amateur showcases, getting hard-working comics the chance to perform at a great event, with some of the big names in comedy.

Bass Player Friend of Jeff Pilson’s Hides Stolen Guitar for 15 Years

Back in the '80s, Dokken was a huge band.

The group played all over the world to sold-out shows, and had super-huge hair.

The band's members stalked by hot chicks, and lived the rock star lifestyle. They also had a lot of cool guitars.

Apparently, one of the bass guitars that Jeff Pilson owned, a favorite 1985 Spector bass, went missing somewhere along the way -- and Jeff was bummed.

Not long after, a guy bought the bass in a store, after being told that it had been previously owned by Jeff Pilson, and sold. The guy used the bass for many years, playing all his gigs and recordings with it -- and eventually became friends with Pilson.

Tina S has been making YouTube waves a lot recently, with some amazing play-throughs of great songs, and now she's upping the ante for her playing. She's throwing down the gauntlet for all those who had 'Through the Fire and Flames' beaten on Rock Band Guitar Hero. (Updated to correct my lack of game knowledge. Thanks guys!)

She's cranked up her expensive Vigier guitar again and does an amazing play-through of this speedy note-fest!

WGRD’s Third Dumb Internet Challenge – The Pasta Challenge [Video]

For the third WGRD Dumb Internet Challenge, we take a step back in prize quality.

Last week, we got to eat Oreos, which is one hard prize to top really. This week's dumb challenge looks as silly, is fun, quick and not too hard, but I think I might start needing to bribe people with cool prizes.

The challenge: Who's the fastest to pick up six pieces of penne pasta only using a piece of spaghetti held in their mouth?

AP Will Be Using Computers to Write NCAA Sports Stories

The future is here! The Associated Press just announced that no longer will humans be needed to cover NCAA games, since they've partnered with a company called Automated Insights to have computers do it.

The upside: AP will now be able to cover all the games that happen, and the little schools won't feel so left out.

The downside: Computers will be writing the articles, with all the love and passion for the game that computers are known for.

I've been listening to Amanda Somerville for a few years now, as she's been on several albums/DVDs I own, and has worked on quite a few really cool projects since moving to Germany.

She recorded an album with former Helloween singer Michael Kiske, called Kiske/Somerville,

Corrosion of Conformity Rehearsing for a Tour With Their Deliverance Lineup [Video]

The Deliverance-era lineup of Corrosion of Conformity is back together, and prepping for a tour! Hopefully we'll get a new album, too!

The 3-piece early version of the band has been touring and recording again for the last few years, but the question that's probably been haunting them the whole time has been: "When are you going to do COC with Pepper again?"
