It’s the end of the year, which means lots and lots (and lots…and lots…) of features previewing 2016's highly-anticipated new releases, like Assassin’s Creed. Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of the beloved series has all the makings of a good video game adaptation; in fact, it could be the first genuinely good video game movie (your Silent Hill mileage may vary). Two new photos have arrived online giving us two different versions of Michael Fassbender for the price of one. What a bargain.

Empire delivered the new images, one featuring Fassbender as 15th century assassin Aguilar and one of the actor as Callum Lynch (the movie’s version of video game protagonist Desmond Miles), shown speaking with a priest in prison:

The actor re-teams with his Macbeth director for Assassin’s Creed, which tells of a man who uses revolutionary technology to access his genetic memories, allowing him to live as his ancestor — a member of a secret, ancient society of assassins who have been battling the Knights Templar for centuries. Using the skills and experience he acquires in the past, Lynch will continue the work of his ancestors in present day.

Fassbender is joined by his Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard, along with Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Ariane Labed. Assassin’s Creed hits theaters on December 21, 2016, while recent viral marketing suggests we’ll see the first trailer on March 25, 2016 — the same day Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters.
