Alter Bridge are currently hitting with "Show Me a Leader," but now the band is ready to follow that up with the new song "My Champion," a rather uplifting song off their upcoming The Last Hero album.

The track is a high energy rocker coming from a positive place, with Myles Kennedy belting the chorus, "Sometimes you fall before you rise / Sometimes you lose it all to find / You've gotta keep fighting and get back up again / My champion." As for the lyric video, it spools out in the red and black theme the band appears to have adopted in promotion of their new album.

"The lyric was actually inspired by thinking back to my situation as a kid," Kennedy recalls. "I was this really small, underdeveloped kid who had to work extremely hard to keep up with all of my peers. It was very frustrating. I would hear a lot of words of encouragement from parents, coaches, or teachers though. A lot of those things were stored away, and they manifested themselves in this song. I’ve been able to apply some of those concepts in my life a thousand times over since then."

"My Champion" appears on Alter Bridge's fifth studio album, The Last Hero, which arrives on Oct. 7 via Caroline Records in the U.S. and Canada and Napalm Records in other parts of the world. The album is currently available to pre-order via Amazon, iTunes and GooglePlay, while you can also pick up the disc in a variety of bundle options at the band's webstore.

Having spent a good portion of the summer on the road in the build-up to the new album's release, you can look for Alter Bridge playing more shows this fall. See their current schedule here.
