Touring is tough business, what with the extended periods away from home and long rides in cramped quarters, among other hassles, and it's even tougher when you have to deal with ancillary nonsense -- like getting mugged. Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, easily one of the biggest buzz bands of 2012, was robbed at gunpoint in Nashville after playing a show at Ghot Wingz on Saturday (Dec. 15.)

According to the Nashville Scene, Howard, Serpents and Snakes general manager and A&R man Seth Riddle and the rock band Clear Plastic Masks, who are new to the region, were mugged while hanging out on the front porch of producer Andrija Tokic's home in Cleveland Park.

Riddle revealed that two hoodie-wearing, "skinny" teenage boys, whom he estimated to be around 15 or 16 years old, approached the crew with guns drawn.

The weapons were not fired, and no one was injured, but the crooks made off with some cash and cell phones, which surely creates headaches for a touring band. The victims, however, didn't stress out about the situation. They instead hit a show at the Mercury Lounge, where drinks and live music helped take the edge off.

That's what we call a bounce-back. Here's to hoping the thieves are apprehended.
