Ace Frehley has revealed that he has completely revamped his backing band, getting rid of the players he had been working with in favor of the musicians who have been serving for his ex-KISS bandmate Gene Simmons. The guitarist says he made the move because he wanted a "younger and more hungry" crew.

"I'm changing the lineup in my band. I'm actually gonna start working with the band that backed up Gene," he says in an interview with The Cassius Morris Show which can be heard below. "I worked with them in Australia, and they also did eight shows with me in Japan, and I realized that, you know... I think they were better than my current lineup, so I've decided to make the change. They're younger and more hungry, you know?"

Frehley had been previously backed by guitarist Richie Scarlet, bassist Chris Wyse and drummer Scot Coogan. His group will now ostensibly feature guitarist Ryan Cook, guitarist Jeremy Asbrock, bassist Philip Shouse and drummer Christopher Williams. His new solo album, Spaceman, lands on shelves next Friday (Oct. 19).

Next year, KISS will launch their End of the Road: World Tour, a farewell jaunt which Frehley has been rumored to be taking part in some capacity. The guitarist says if it was framed properly, he would consider returning to the band he was last a part of in 2002.

"Well, I was one of the founding members of KISS and made KISS what it is today," Frehley says. "[Frehley's replacement in KISS] Tommy Thayer was just trying to copy everything I created — he hasn't come up with one inch of anything original. From what I read on the internet, I think the fans really want me back in the band. I'm doing fine without KISS, but if it was offered to me in the right way, I'd seriously consider returning for the last tour. But I haven't been asked yet, so it's kind of up in the air."
