Morning commuters in New Jersey ran into a bit of a surprise when a subway escalator randomly decided to reverse it's course.  Screams of panic were heard throughout the subway terminal due to this less than catastrophic turn of events.

People began to attempt to quickly run up the reversed elevator as though they were avoiding a brutal death.  Because of the panic, several people were injured.  But these injuries were to be expected, since patrons were obviously using the escalator for it's escalating properties.  This experience proves the ancient proverb wrong that "An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs."

See what Free Beer and Hot Wings have to say about the escalator to hell below.

They start running against the motion... to continue going up as though they're trying to avoid going to the pits of hell. - Hot Wings
