There's a certain etiquette to enjoying free samples at grocery stores. Take one. Pretend to listen to person giving the cooking demonstration/ handing out the samples. Walk away.

You don't shove as many samples as possible into your face then haul off and hit an old man who corrects you. But. That's exactly what Derrick Gharabighi, 24, allegedly did at a Costco in Burbank, Calif. on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Gharabighi was shopping (or maybe just hanging out gobbling up free food) at a Burbank Costco on Sunday when he walked over to a cart with Nutella waffle samples.

An elderly shopper reached for a sample, prompting Gharabighi to snatch up all the Nutella waffles for himself.

According to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco, "The victim told Mr. Gharabighi that he wanted a sample and he shouldn’t take so many.”

That's when Gharabighi allegedly punched the older man in the face. The victim was was taken to the hospital with swelling and a cut above his eye.

Gharabighi was arrested and charged with elder abuse.
