72,000 Michigan residents will be receiving large checks in the mail this week.

The National Mortgage Settlement is bringing checks of over $1,400 to 72,000 Michigan borrowers.

Find out if you are one of them.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette announced today that checks of about $1,480 will be going out to about 72,000 Michigan borrowers who submitted a valid foreclosure payment claim through the National Mortgage Settlement.

Michigan is set to receive $107.2 million total.

Schuette released a statement at Michigan.gov:

Thousands of Michigan residents were affected by the recent foreclosure crisis that consumed the country.  These funds will help victims of mortgage servicers' abuses rebuild their lives, and we will work to ensure devastating practices like these never happens again through enforcing new mortgage servicing standards. Borrowers should also note the payment does not limit them from seeking relief through a separate lawsuit or other claims.
