I could be considered a Rock on the Range Hipster by saying, "I was going to Rock on the Range before it was cool." Before this huge festival sold out 2 years in a row, I was attending it when you could still walk up to the ticket booth and purchase tickets. Here are some of my favorite memories of 5 years of Rock on the Range.

I have been attending the festival since 2009. Unfortunately, the only year I missed was last year because I was busy getting married. I had never been to a festival this large ever in my life, and the reason my now wife and I went the first time is because Korn was playing. We were pretty freshly dating so taking a huge trip like this so early in our relationship was pretty intense. 2014 was the 5th time I visited the festival. Listed below were some of my favorite memories of the fest.

Static-X (2009) played on the Jagermeister stage one year, and I didn't really know what I was in for. All I remember is trying to stay alive in a pit of mud and insanity as Static-X played some intense metal.

Limp Bizkit (2010) really surprised me. One of the first albums I ever owned was Limp Bizkit's 'Significant Other.' They went on right after Rob Zombie, which how could you top them? I wouldn't say Limp topped Zombie, but they defiantly brought the show with them with all the familiar tunes.

Mushroomhead (2010) played one year, and they always impress me. I felt cool during this show cause I was one of those crazy guys up front that knew all of the songs.

P.O.D (2011) was another band that surprised me. These guys knew how to get a crowd going, and my wife REALLY wanted to be up close for this performance. We got as close as we could, and it got to the point that it was so crazy, we were falling, getting trampled, etc. Good show though!

Down (2012) kicked my face in a Rock on the Range. This was the first time I had ever seen Phil Anselmo live in my life, so I was really excited. At this time, I really didn't know a lot of Down material, but I became instant fan after the set. I also found out that Dave Grohl was in attendance on side stage too!

Avenged Sevenfold (2014) impressed the hell out of me this year. The show, the sound, everything was awesome. Seeing that skeleton king come out from the stage was epic and you could just feel the vibe of the audience.

Cheers to year 6!
