Last night, a 175-pound black bear was found on the road after having been struck by a vehicle in Michigan.

Mason County Press says the bear was struck north of Ludington in Victory Township on Fisher Road between Peterson and Victory Corners roads, near the Lincoln River.

Michigan State Police say the bear was badly injured when they arrived on the scene. It was necessary to put the animal down. They estimated the weight of the bear to be 175 pounds. The driver had left the scene.

The black bear found in a tree in Grand Rapids on May 3rd weighed 125 pounds. That bear was released in Roscommon County later that same day, about 100 miles east of Victory Township.
