It’s going to be a hot weekend. We  have several activities, both inside and outside for you. There are musicals, concerts, baseball (you can even take your dog!), food, beach volleyball, bugs, the world’s largest dog wash, and of course Fireworks!

Some activities include the kids, while others are more for the adults.

    The West Michigan Whitecaps take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods this weekend. On Thursday, it will be $2.00 beers, $2.00 hot dogs, and $2.00 Pepsi products. On Friday, it is Dinosaur Night. See Jurassic Park vehicles, fossil displays, interactive activities, and many more things will be available for all kids on Dino Night! ON Saturday, it is Star Wars Night, with a Chewsocka giveaway (a Chewsocka is Chewbacca socks), and the players will be wearing Star Wars jerseys. There will also be Family Fare Fireworks after the game. And then wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, it will be Dog Day!  Bring out for pooch for Dog Day! There will also be Corgi Races. And every Sunday is Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Family Day. The first 1,000 kids eat free! Fans can get autographs and play catch on the field before the game from 1:15-1:30 pm. Kids Run the Bases after the game presented by Milk Means More.

    After last year's successful Food Truck Fridays, they have extended the season and will be running for 16 weeks this summer. This year they have expanded and partnered with the Grand Rapids Food Truck Association to bring you the best group of trucks we can arrange. They will be setting up near the start of the disc golf course. All trucks in attendance take credit cards, and have a variety of options including gluten free and vegan.

    Some communities are doing their fireworks the weekend before the 4th of July holiday. You can see fireworks on Friday in Hartford. On Saturday there will be fireworks in Battle Creek, Caledonia, Comstock Park (after the Whitecaps game) and Kalamazoo. And on Sunday you can watch them in Lake Odessa.     Come experience the world of arthropods! Engage your inner entomologist and explore the lifecycle of a cecropia moth, investigate live insects, and buzz around like pollinators. This fun and interactive workshop will show young scientists how insects are unique in the animal kingdom. This family-friendly event lasts 50 minutes. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    The World's Largest Dog Wash to benefit Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids brought to you by Bissell is back for it's 16th year! This fun-filled event is great for the whole family (specifically your four-legged family members)!  For just $10, you'll get a wash and towel dry, doggy bag (while supplies last) and information from area businesses and veterinarians! After your dog has been cleaned, take them on over to the stadium to enjoy West Michigan Whitecaps' Dog Days Game (tickets to the game must be purchased separately). The 16th annual Dog Wash's proceeds benefit Children's Cancer and Grief Program at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids! Special thanks, of course, to the West Michigan Whitecaps for hosting this event!
